Kindred Soul

My soul is like

a kindred spirit

That understands

my needs and wants.

Upon receiving

happiness it sings;

When it's deprived

of happiness, it cries.

My soul knows my

innermost thoughts,

Reaching out to me

when I feel alone.

It urges me

to live my life

It urges me

to chase my dreams.

Look Within

As I look into the mirror,

I view myself

with fresh eyes;

I take in

my wavy hair and

the light in my

mahogany eyes,

I take in

the marks left by

blemishes, for they

co-exist with the glow.

I take a good view

of myself as I venture

into my soul,

For to know yourself,

you must look within.
