Never Look Back

Slowly, steadily,
she rose from the mess
she's dwelled in for so long.

She walked across the room
in disbelief that she's lived in
such ruin for so long.

She reached for the
doorknob, seeing a beacon
of light through the slats.

She threw open the door and
walked out into the light,
never looking back.
