Searching

I search for you, yet
you are not here.

I search for your
soothing gaze,

Searching for warmth
in your embrace,

Yet a cold space
surrounds me.

I search for a
listening ear,

Someone to share
thoughts and dreams with,

Yet what shares my
space is silence.

I search for you, yet
you are not here.

  1. I like to think about my capacity to just keep my eyes open. Your poem reminds me about that. Even when I don't find what I am looking for, I keep my eyes open as it may appear somewhere else. I love this poem, Cathleen. Very evocative for me to read this. (And I hope that soon you find what you are looking for, too! Just keep your eyes open, okay?)
